At USL I was the lead designer, content creator and administrator of the Moodle based LMS. I developed multiple education units on various topics from editing supplied content and workshopping ideas with Product Managers through to implementation and administrating the system. I created animated infographics, designed layout and edited images as well as recording my own voice as the narrator for many of the courses. I worked with a junior who I mentored and we were able to collaborate well.
Courses were on a range of topics such as blood pressure management and monitoring, respiratory equipment and the vascular system. I was charged with monitoring access and course completion as well as trouble shooting the system. On an annual basis I ran an internal course necessary to keep our warehouse and other staff up to standard. I also helped facilitate the material in relation to external medical staff needed to be accredited and kept up to date on important knowledge to do with use of complex equipment.
I really enjoy the challenge of how to present information in a consistent and sophisticated format while maintaining engagement and testing retention. We incorporated videos and quiz’s as ways to keep the learning fresh and dynamic. My personal strength lies in the ability to create a range of graphics and icons to illustrate concepts which I pull out of the written content when I feel something needs elucidation. Providing visual stimulus and metaphor can help cater to different learning styles as can the audio component of my voiceovers and video.
I was able to use my background in tutoring and qualification in adult education to inform my approach and create content that looked professional and stimulating.
